All text and images used in the production of “The Goat Said…” were in the US public domain and found using Project Gutenberg.

Adam Trowbridge is an artist focused on research that fractures the intersection of sensation and cognition, or any collective basis for meaning, purpose and communication. His work explores the aesthetic possibilities that arise as communication breaks down. Using new media and popular culture in a practice at the intersection of linguistics and sensational aesthetics, he invents incidents that occur slightly above the noise level, between words that organize our communities and the chaos that lies beyond them. Materially, his recent work has been in the form of theater, performance, responsive art and video.

So excited to take part in the upcoming Atlas of Gifted Ideas show at the Henry Gallery at the University of Washington. http://gift-shop.tumblr.com

The Art House Coop in Atlanta organized A Million Little Pictures in Atlanta and San Francisco before they move from Georgia to NYC (I think).

Laura Sharp is organizing an exhibit, The PDA Show to be shown at a number of venues in SLC including the Utah Pride Center. The show is in response to an incident earlier this year where a same-sex couple was detained for kissing on LDS property. You can read more about it at the Salt Lake Tribune here: http://www.sltrib.com/ci_12811907

In addition, us UNC-CH MFAs (big acronym) are working on a show displaying some new work. That’ll be up in the Alcott Gallery when the Spring semester starts back up.

Just got back from Wilmington, NC where Dr. Natalie Trice of Dalton State College and I gave an awesometastic conference presentation to about five people at 9am Saturday morning…

This presentation, which I think we’ll continue working on and hope to perform again soon, deals with heroic characters from 1980s (or early 1990s) films who hear voices coming from technology (televisions, freeway signs, scoreboards) that tell them to do things. We’re focussing on films where following the voices’ directions leads to beneficial outcomes for the protagonist, despite the risks they are put through or put others through, and how this relates to our (the viewers) perception of films that we watch when we’re young.

… It’s sorta like a deus ex machina feedback cycle..
